Summary:
Directly aiding the Production Supervisor as well as each Press Operation Specialist, the Floor Person/Material Handler supplies raw materials, components, and all packing supplies to the injection molding machines. Then, they must move all finished goods to their proper location in accordance with their predetermined work order using pallet jacks and/or forklift trucks. It is necessary that all materials are labeled correctly for instant verification and proper record maintenance. In the event of defective material or equipment, the Floor Person has the authority to stop the job and notify the Shift Supervisor immediately.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Understand Midgard’s quality policy as it relates to your job.
·Ensure materials are drying at the correct temperatures and dew points, level indicators are connected and activated and conveying equipment is working properly.
·Verify the hopper loaders and/or dryers are clean prior to loading any resins and empty grinders when they are full at the end of each shift. Record the material type on the Material Log sheet attached to the dryer and record the material lot number on the work order.
·Ensure all material is labeled correctly, with all proper information, when entering onto the floor as well as when leaving the floor, including scrap and re-grind containers.
·Make boxes as required for each job, ensuring that they are correctly labeled and numbered.
·Maintain all machines with adequate amounts of material, cartons and skids for continuous operation (Refer to job folder and work order).
·Remove finished product away from machine, wrap if necessary, and put in warehouse or Secondary Department depending on where the work order dictates. (For jobs that are not being skidded at the machine, put boxes on the finished good skid and add to the finished good check-off sheet).
·Participate in change-over when applicable Inform supervisor of any maintenance needed, quality and safety issues observed.
·Assist in giving operators breaks, maintaining all material equipment and overall housekeeping.
·Perform all other duties as required by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent along with previous related experience in material handling. Working knowledge of materials, mold presses and equipment such as pallet jacks and forklift trucks.
Satisfactory completion of Midgard’s Forklift Training is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must know how to read and write English, all paperwork requirements have to be written in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must have good communication skills and the ability to follow-up on actions in a timely manner. Must work well in a team environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand and reach with hands and arms. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This job also requires lifting of up to 30 Lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and machinery. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
